Play Dumbarnie
Scotland's Newest Golf Course
Other than Pebble Beach, there are few world-class courses able to offer such an expanse of beach and water frontage as that we have been blessed with at Dumbarnie Links. Of the 34,000 golf courses currently in play around the world, only 246 of them are authentic links courses. Of these, only around 40 are internationally recognized 5 Star links, and yet over thirty of these appear in The World’s Top 100 Golf Courses. The most famous is the Old Course at St Andrews on the shores of Fife, on the east coast of Scotland. Premier links are very rare and have great cachè value.
The aim of our partnership is to produce a world-class, prestigious daily fee golf course on a site of genuine links land that is only minutes away from St Andrews, the “Home of Golf.” This rare piece of land has a mile and a half of sea frontage with panoramic views over the Firth of Forth.
At first glance Dumbarnie Links may have the appearance of the style of the classic links courses where The Open Championship has been played since 1860. However, the extensive 345-acre site at Dumbarnie is particularly special. Its dual elevations, which are connected by a flowing escarpment, have provided the opportunity to create a number of elevated tees where holes play directly towards panoramic views of the expansive Firth of Forth. A further outstanding feature is that a number of tees and greens are in close proximity to the water. In fact, fourteen of the holes have views of the Bay and the Firth of Forth.
The design incorporates three potentially driveable Par-4s and features several holes that engender ‘risk and reward’. This course is designed to inspire rather than intimidate golfers. Total yardage for the golf course varies from 5,300 to 6,900 yards. However, there is a special set of professional tees positioned such that should an event be held at Dumbarnie sometime in the future, there are 12 extra tees whereby the course can measure up to 7,600 yards.

Play Carnoustie
Host of the 2018 Open Championship
Famous Open venue--makes Top 100 in every ranking. If the wind is blowing it may be more than you want!
Some will say Carnoustie is too tough--but none will say it is not memorable. So much Open history at Carnoustie--it is a must play.
The Championship Course has hosted seven Open Championships, one Ladies Open and one Seniors Open making it one of the very few to have done so in the UK. It is one of the three courses used for the annual Dunhill Links, the others being Kingsbarns and the Old Course in St Andrews. The Open Championship will return to the Championship Course in 2018. Generally regarded as the toughest of the Open venues for those who understand the game a little more will know it is probably the fairest too. Without doubt though Carnoustie Championship Course does have the toughest closing stretch of holes anywhere and those finishing the final four holes with no more than a bogey should be suitably content with their play.

If unsuccessful play Crail
What can you say--tee it up at, arguably--the most famous course in the world.
At first it is underwhelming as the course is very flat and not all that appealing to the eye--then when you stand on the 1st Tee it hits you--you are playing the Old Course-- the rest of your day is magical.
The oldest and most iconic golf course in the world.
Formed in 1786, the Society is the 7th oldest golf club in the world.
A combination of stunning coastal views, centuries of history and hugely enjoyable golf is what makes Balcomie Links one of Scotland's most finely polished, golfing gems. This traditional, classic links course was laid out by the old master himself, Tom Morris, and opened in 1895. Created in the days when course design was governed by the natural lie of the land and not the mechanical earth mover, Balcomie has the unusual combination of three par fives, six par threes and nine par fours, producing a tough par of 69. Extraordinary holes abound, along with those which seriously challenge and those which are more comfortable. The sum total is a layout which both enchants and delights, but which also demands and punishes, testing all the skills in a golfer's armoury – as well as his nerve. Those length seekers who believe Balcomie will be a soft touch, do so at their peril.

The Daily Ballot
Despite its overwhelming popularity, the Old Course still upholds the tradition of a ballot (lottery) drawn two days ahead of play (except for Sundays and tournament days). This enables golfers who are in the area to still have the opportunity to play the Old Course during their visit. This reflects the public spirit of St Andrews Links and its commitment to staying as open and accessible to all golf lovers.
To enter the ballot there must be at least two players and all names, Home Clubs and handicaps will be required.
You may enter online, by phone on +44 (0)1334 466666 or in person by visiting The Old Pavilion or one of our Clubhouses.
The ballot closes at 2pm two days before you hope to play. Entries are accepted on the day the ballot is drawn or on the day before, once that day's ballot has closed (approx 2.15pm).
As the Old Course is closed on Sundays there is no Friday ballot.
If you are available to play at any time this will give you the best chance of success.
The result of the ballot is available after 4.30pm the same day. You can check the Ballot Results page or phone back after this time.
If successful, a current official handicap card (Golf Club affiliated to a Golf Union/Association) record or certificate must be presented to the starter prior to play. Maximum handicaps - 36 for men and ladies. Unfortunately we do not accept letters of introduction from your local Club Professional. Please check in for your round at least 20 minutes prior to your tee time
Only the named golfers on the ballot entry are permitted to play. For Local Priority Times, please refer to the Options for Play document on the Links Ticketholder page’
If you are unsuccessful you may wish to enter the Singles Daily Draw, a new process in place to efficiently manage the allocation of any available on-the-day tee times for single players at the Old Course. Single players will be able to enter the draw between 9am and 5pm on the day before they wish to play at either The Old Pavilion or Links Clubhouse. Click here for more information.
Duplicate ballot entries will be disqualified.
